FAQ

Therapy with a Personalized Approach

Get the mental health treatment you deserve in person or from the comfort of your own home.

Mental health treatment should begin where you are and with your needs.  We believe that mental health starts with your thoughts, but it doesn’t end there.  Mental health should include how you feel, how your body feels, and everything that’s happening around you.  That’s why we take a completely holistic approach.

That’s why we focus on what’s going on in your life through tailored, 1:1 individual therapy that you can do right from the comfort of your own home or in person.  It’s designed for you, by you.

You don’t have to figure out all the answers by yourself.  You can and should have the life you want.

What do we do?

We provide mental health treatment that is evidence-based for every stage of life.  Our services focus on a variety of mental health issues in an out-patient care setting, both in-person and through our private and secure telehealth platform.

What makes you different from the others?

We are able to provide both in-person and telehealth services and accept private health insurance, but our focus is not just on the individual, but on how the environment is or has caused worsening of symptoms.

We don’t just treat the symptoms.  We work collaboratively with YOU to find out if there are any changes that would help within your life and what you can do to make positive changes, when you’re ready.

What kind of therapy do you do?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a widely used and focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is based on the idea that our thoughts and beliefs influence our emotions and actions. In CBT, you’ll learn how to identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thought patterns, replace them with more realistic and positive ones, and develop healthier coping strategies.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT focuses on accepting difficult emotions and experiences while committing to actions aligned with personal values. ACT emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and psychological flexibility. The goal is not to eliminate or suppress distressing thoughts and feelings but rather to develop skills to respond to them effectively.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy with concepts of mindfulness and acceptance. It focuses on helping individuals regulate their emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and improve their interpersonal skills. DBT is known for its emphasis on balancing acceptance and change. It encourages individuals to accept themselves and their experiences while also recognizing the need for change and working towards it.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy recognizes that no single therapy approach fits every individual or situation, and instead aims to tailor the treatment to the unique needs of each person. The goal of integrative therapy is to provide a flexible and comprehensive approach that addresses the complex and multifaceted nature of human experiences. By utilizing a range of therapeutic tools and perspectives, the therapist can address the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, relational, and systemic aspects of an individual’s concerns.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, and other psychological difficulties. During an EMDR session, the therapist guides the client in recalling a distressing memory or belief while simultaneously engaging in bilateral (taps, eye movements, tones) stimulation. The client’s attention shifts back and forth between the memory and the external stimulus. This process helps desensitize the emotional intensity associated with the memory, reprocess the information, and facilitate the development of more adaptive beliefs and emotions.

Telehealth and Services

Is Telehealth private?

Privacy is one of our primary concerns.  Each one of our telehealth appointments is completed through a HIPAA regulation compliant program.  Our program also encrypts any audio and video, too.

Does my insurance cover Telehealth?

Most commercial (private) health insurances do cover telehealth visits, but coverage can vary by each carrier.  We encourage that all coverage is verified prior to appointments.  You can do this by contacting the number on the back of your card, or we can do it for you by filling out the form here.

Can all of my appointments be virtual?

You and your therapist will work together to determine what is the best fit for your needs and the services being provided.

What kind of services are offered?

We offer a range of therapeutic approahces that include services for adults and children.  We also provide referrals for additional services, such as medication management, letters for FMLA and Emotional Support Animals, where appropriate.

What about in-person? Can I come to the office?

We absolutely encourage anyone who is able to come in-person to do so.  The privacy and comfort of our office is designed to make people feel safe without the pressure to always put on a brave face

Is Therapy Right for Me?

Our approach is focused on finding solutions to your experiences.

We use an integrated approach that is tailored to your needs, including maximizing any resources that you may already have.  Using an integrated approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we can begin to explore how your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are connected and influence each other while breaking any cycles that aren’t working for you anymore.

Through our work together, we can isolate triggers and begin to reconstruct their influence on your life, build better habits and communication skills, and learn new and more helpful ways of managing symptoms while reducing their impact on your life.
