Gender and Body Related Disorders

Therapy for Gender and Body Related Disorders

Get the mental health treatment you deserve in person or from the comfort of your own home.

Mental health treatment should begin where you are and with your needs.  We believe that mental health starts with your thoughts, but it doesn’t end there.  Mental health should include how you feel, how your body feels, and everything that’s happening around you.  That’s why we take a completely holistic approach.

That’s why we focus on what’s going on in your life through tailored, 1:1 individual therapy that you can do right from the comfort of your own home or in person.  It’s designed for you, by you.

You don’t have to figure out all the answers by yourself.  You can and should have the life you want.

Think therapy for gender or body dysmorphia may be a good fit for you?

Take a free assessment about your mental health to get started on relizing your true potential and becoming your authentic self.

There’s nothing wrong with living a life true to the best parts of you.  But, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any barriers that need to be broken.

Many people experience difficulty within family or social circles as they begin to become more authentic to who they are as a person.  This can create a lot of mental health issues that outside support can be helpful.

Additionally, because of certain health requirements for people to live a more fulfilled life, often treatment for specific gender related disorders may be necessary to access treatments that allow you to recognize the person in the mirror.

Understanding Body and Gender Disorders

Gender disorders are real and valid experiences, deserving understanding and support, not dismissive myths.

Gender dysphoria and gender incongruence are complex conditions that can significantly affect a person’s emotional and mental well-being. There are many things that can influence these conditions, such as genetics, biology, psychology, social environment, culture, trauma, and childhood experiences. Some people may have differences in their brains or hormones that affect their gender identity, which can lead to gender dysphoria. Negative body image and low self-esteem can also contribute to these conditions.

It’s important to understand that gender dysphoria and gender incongruence are unique experiences that require compassion and respect. Unfortunately, discrimination and a lack of support can make it even harder for those with these conditions. Providing support and gender-affirming care is crucial to helping individuals lead fulfilling lives that align with their gender identity.

Is Therapy Right for Me?

Our approach is focused on finding solutions to your experiences.

We use an integrated approach that is tailored to your needs, including maximizing any resources that you may already have.  Using an integrated approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we can begin to explore how your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are connected and influence each other while breaking any cycles that aren’t working for you anymore.

Through our work together, we can isolate triggers and begin to reconstruct their influence on your life, build better habits and communication skills, and learn new and more helpful ways of managing symptoms while reducing their impact on your life.

Ready to find out more and begin your journey of healing?

Questions?  We’ve got answers!

I’m not sure that I’m ready for major changes in my life or telling others about what is going on.

That’s ok.  The journey to a life of authenticity isn’t about making all of the major changes in your life all at once.  It isn’t even about making changes that you aren’t ready to make.  Our work together will focus on finding increased meaning in your life so that you can find happiness while you learn more about yourself and what it means to be you.

I’m afraid of being rejected by friends and family.

This fear is normal and is a major part of this experience for many people.  What’s important is that you don’t have to go through this journey alone.  We go at your pace.  You may never want to make major changes in your life, and that’s ok, as long as you’re the one making the decisions for your life.  This is about support and exploration, not about changing your life into something you aren’t ready for.

I’m ready for major changes and need letters in order to do so.  Can you help with that?

Yes!  Letters are written on a case by case basis and are based on the ongoing therapeutic relationship and the standards of care that are associated with the specific goals that you are looking to initiate.  If you’re ready for major changes, we can discuss together what it is that you’re looking for and what you can expect from our work together.

Life can be hard, but getting set up doesn’t have to be.
